To Towel Dry or Not To Towel Dry...?

A while back I saw a tip on Pinterest saying that you should use a cotton t-shirt to dry your hair rather then a towel. I skimmed past the pin and forgot about it, until I saw it again months later. After deciding to start up this blog I figured I should give this t-shirt thing a try.
I started with the t-shirt (actually I used pajama shorts, lol) and two days later I used my trusty towel to dry my hair. My hair completely freaks out if I wash it every day. I have to say I really wasn't expecting there to be any difference between a shirt and a towel, actually that's not true I was expecting my towel to be better then a shirt.

The shorts worked really well for me as I was able to stretch the elastic and tie it with a hair tie then tuck it under and I used a hair claw to secure the back. I kept it on my head for about an hour then took it out completely expecting my hair to still be soaked since the shorts were. But, as you can see it was really pretty dry, still a little damp but not that bad at all.

Now for my towel wrap.....

Again, I left the wrap in for an hour something I had never done before because I usually pull my hair up right away and head out wherever I'm heading to which by the way is REALLY bad for your hair. Since I'd had my hair in the towel for an hour I expected my hair to be as dry as it was with the shorts if not dryer.

As you can see my hair is a lot wetter then it was when I used the shorts, I was totally shocked! I decided to let my hair continue drying with out the towel as having my head wrapped for more then an hour whether with towel or shorts and I start to get a headache.

It took about another half hour for my hair to finish drying and I noticed more frizz and fly-aways then I had when I used the shorts. So bottom line, I'm ditching my not so trusty towel and switching over to the even more trusty cotton shorts. :)

I hope that this tip helps you out, and I highly recommend you do a bit of comparing on your own. Have a great night everyone and I'll see you again next week for another Tiff's Tipps!

How To Avoid Spider Leg Eyelashes

I used to really struggle with getting my eyelashes to look natural with mascara on. If you look when I pulled the wand out of the tube you can see a LOT of excess mascara that you really don't want on your lashes, unless of course you are going for the spider leg look.

Most tips I found on Pinterest said to just wipe the wand off before applying. For me doing this doesn't get enough of that extra stuff off.

Seeing as mascara should be thrown out after 3 months (according to this article from Good Housekeeping) I'm okay with wiping off a lot more mascara from my wand. I just use a bit of folded up toilet paper, though I am trying to find something better to use as I feel I'm wasting the TP and I do get some of the fibers from it onto the wand. I place the wand onto the TP then smoosh it with my fingers. See how much extra there is!?!

I applied my mascara but wasn't happy, I had forgotten that this particular wand needs two good smooshes not one.... See below how my lashes are clumped together?

I decided rather then fussing with my lashes to just start fresh, I grabbed my trusty makeup remover wipes (I get these from Dollar Tree) and removed what I had done. Here's an extra tip for you... If you use these wipes it's best to keep them in a Ziplock. After being opened and closed numerous times the sticky on the tab tends to not stick very well, so keeping it in a Ziplock holds the moister in better preventing the wipes from drying out.

Now that my lashes were clean I smooshed my wand two times (the really thick blob is the first smoosh). I applied the mascara and was much happier with the results.

I did have a few stubborn lashes sticking together so I grabbed my favorite makeup tool my Eyelash and Brow Wand and closed my eye and ran it through my lashes making sure to go back and forth a little bit rather then straight down.

Here's the mascara I used today and my Eyelash and Brow Wand. You'll probably notice quickly that I love the elf product line, it's super cheap and works great. What's not to love?

Most of the time I only wear mascara and eyeliner, especially during the summer, unless I have somewhere fancy to go. My mascara has a major tendency to get all over my eyelid no matter how I angle my head, so I apply that first then finish off with my eyeliner. Now I'm all ready to face my day, with spider leg free eyelashes.

Thank you so much for stopping by, and I really hope that this tip helps you out. Have a great night!!!
